Pavement milling (cold planing, asphalt milling, or profiling) is the process of removing part of the surface of a paved area such as a road, bridge or parking lot.
Milling can involve the removal of varied amounts of surface - including from just enough thickness to level and smooth the surface, to full-depth removal.
Full-depth reclamation is a recycling method that pulverizes and blends a deteriorated existing asphalt pavement structure with a predetermined portion of underlying materials, resulting in an upgraded base material.
As you might expect, it's much more costly to repave than it is to maintain.
That's why it's extremely important to care for your asphalt investment.
However, if your asphalt surfaces are in such disrepair that maintenance is no longer an option, we have the most cost effective ways to repave your project.
Potholes are created by water penetrating the asphalt surface through cracks.
Introduction of water to the underlying soil structure weakens the supporting soil and eventually a pothole occurs.
Cracks then lead to potholes.
Properly sealing asphalt cracks as they appear can more than double the effective service life of the pavement.
Paved parking lots, parking garages, driveways, crosswalks, walkways, recreation areas and other such areas are subject to slow moving vehicle traffic as well as foot traffic.
Due to the nature of these types of pavements and because they encounter different types of traffic than highways and high traffic volume roads, special care should be taken when sealing cracks in these areas.
Sealcoating is imperative to optimize pavement appearance and preservation.
The many diverse benefits of sealcoating asphalt include: improving visual aesthetics; resisting oxidation from the sun; replacing eroded surfaces; extending the life and maximizing the overall value of the asphalt pavement.
Sealcoating your parking lot or other paved surface protects the asphalt surface against the sun's ultraviolet rays which dry out the pavement glue (known as asphalt cement), eventually causing deterioration of the pavement surface.
