Pimentel Paving is a licensed asphalt paving general engineering contractor with a superior reputation founded on top-quality customer service! We'd be happy to talk to you about your next project and provide straightforward answers to all your questions. A dishonest paving company may count on your not being familiar with their industry to take advantage of you.

Here are a few things you can do to protect yourself when choosing a paving contractor. Ask for "material tags" to avoid being overcharged for paving material. You can figure out the square footage and tonnage a job requires to meet the specifications of the contract you signed. Paving companies all get tonnage tags when we pick up our paving materials, marked with the date the asphalt was picked up and the address of the job site.

It's a paper trail. Every contractor should carry insurance: auto insurance, liability insurance, and workers comp. We have never done a job without an employee on site. Ask for certificates of insurance for all three: auto, liability, and workers comp.

Asphalt, or bitumen, is a sticky, black and highly viscous liquid or semi-solid form of petroleum.

Chip seal provides a surface that is safe to walk, drive, and park on, and is far superior to graded gravel.
Not every pavement setting calls for asphalt.

Chip Seal is a pavement surface treatment that combines one or more layers of asphalt with one or more layers of fine aggregate.
This kind of surface is known by a variety of other names that are used in different parts of the country.
In the eastern U.S. it's usually called tar-seal, tarseal, tar and chip.
Here in California we call it chip seal, chipseal, or chip and seal.
