Mike Mingus successfully passed his National Binder Technician Certification (NBTC) from the Asphalt Institute! This is a tremendous accomplishment that bolsters the credibility of our Bluegrass Testing laboratory, and further establishes us as the premier laboratory in the region.

Our story begins nearly a century ago, in 1919, when Joseph Michael Dougherty, a second-generation descendant of Irish immigrants, formed the Dougherty Coal Company.
Joseph Michael's son, Joseph Thomas, joined the company soon after and continued to grow the business after his father's death in 1927.
The Dougherty Coal Company flourished for decades until the availability of natural gas began replacing coal as the preferred method of heating homes.
